UniChem Heads to the Lakes For its Annual Golf Week
UniChem Ltd recently hosted its annual ‘Golf Week’ in the
beautiful location of Lake Garda, Italy. The event was attended by pharmacists
from across the UK, who spent the week honing their golfing skills on four of
the most challenging and beautiful courses in Northern Italy.
The week consisted of two main competitions, the overall singles championship
and a team event, whereby the delegates were split into four different teams
based around the pharmacy schools that the pharmacists had qualified from.
Competitors played each of the courses throughout the week earning points for
their respective teams. The team representing the Schools of Pharmacy at
Chelsea, London, Bath and Aston won the team competition following an amazingly
tight contest against the team made up of pharmacists from Liverpool,
Manchester, Bradford, Leicester and Cardiff Pharmacy Schools.
As well as the competitive games, golf clinics were run throughout the week with
PGA Golf professional and current World Trick Shot Champion, Geoff Swain.
Geoff’s display of “unusual” golfing techniques was one of the highlights of
the week.
The overall winner of the singles event was Roy Gillman from Sheffield Pharmacy
(pictured celebrating his winning putt and receiving his winner’s trophy from
Jeremy Main of UniChem) who won a tough contest on ‘count back’ from Andre
Patel of Andres Pharmacy in Harrow. Roy won a custom fit set of Callaway X20
golfing irons and will be visiting Callaway’s European HQ, to have his golf
swing analysed and the clubs built to his exact specification.
Jeremy Main, Chief Operating Officer, UniChem says: “Lake Garda is a beautiful
location with fantastic golfing facilities and many local attractions. This
made it an ideal venue for this year’s event. The UniChem Golf Week is always a
popular event attracting both customers and suppliers, who find it a great way
to relax whilst networking with peers.”
This year’s main sponsors were Actavis, Alphega Pharmacy, Callaway Golf, GPS
Visual Communications and TMB.
