UNICHEM CONVENTION DELEGATES OFFERED 'UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY' TO INFLUENCE FUTURE LEADERSHIP OF THE PROFESSION
Almost 100 pharmacists took advantage of a unique opportunity to influence the future leadership of their profession today by voicing their opinions through a series of group seminar sessions at the UniChem Convention in Oman.
Chris Martin, Community Pharmacist, Chairman of Hywel Dda NHS Trust and Chairman of the UniChem Customer Forums, led the sessions entitled 'Moving Toward A Future Professional Body: Your Opportunity To Influence.' During the seminars delegates actively debated what they expect from the future leaders of their profession and the ways in which they will measure their success.
UniChem will feed back the outcomes of the debate to Kirit Patel, Chief Executive of Day Lewis, in his capacity as Chairman of the TransCom working group which is tasked with looking at the issue of 'leadership' on behalf of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain.
Commenting on the seminars, Chris Martin says: "I have been delighted to lead this important debate. As a practicing community pharmacist, I believe it is absolutely essential that the future leadership of our profession is heavily influenced by those at the coal face. The UniChem Convention is the perfect opportunity to gather opinions and suggestions from a variety of pharmacists to help inform this important strand of TransCom activity."
Mike Smith, Convention Chairman says: "One of the core aims of the UniChem Convention is to provide a platform to share ideas and debate key industry topics. The future leadership of the profession is an extremely ‘hot topic’ in Pharmacy at the present time and we are very pleased to be able to facilitate debate and provide our customers with a unique opportunity to influence decision-making in this area."
