Success For Alliance Healthcare’s Seasonal Flu Pgd As Nottingham Independent Completes Over 100 Vaccinations

Independent pharmacist Dhiren Raval has demonstrated how independents can successfully deliver a local patient service by administering over 100 seasonal flu vaccinations since the launch of his service. Dhiren’s pharmacy, the Bingham Pharmacy in Nottingham, is operating this innovative service, after taking part in the Flu PgD training programme facilitated by Alliance Healthcare.

Alliance Healthcare launched its seasonal flu vaccination service for independent pharmacies in August 2009 and Dhiren was one of 157 pharmacists who signed up. The pharmacists underwent full training on all aspects of administering intramuscular vaccinations and each pharmacy was issued with a certificate of competency together with a flu vaccination manual, POS material and patient information leaflets.

Sanjay Pathak, Alliance Healthcare’s Head of Professional Services, said: “I would like to congratulate Dhiren and many of our other independent customers on the services they are have offered to their local community over the flu season. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the outcomes of the training programme and we hope that the local communities are benefitting from the convenience these local vaccination services have provided.”

Commenting on his experience of delivering the service, Dhiren Raval said: “The service has worked very well for us here at Bingham Pharmacy. Offering flu vaccinations is a natural extension of my healthcare services role in the pharmacy and patients have commented to me on how they have found the service easy and convenient to access.”
