Alliance Healthcare Flu PGD For 2010 To Include Tamiflu
Independent pharmacists planning to offer seasonal flu vaccinations as a private PGD service this autumn/winter can now enrol in Alliance Healthcare’s Flu Vaccination Training Programme for 2010. The programme offers clinical training as well as all round support in administering and marketing the PGD service.
Building on the success of its first programme last year, Alliance Healthcare has launched a unique new package which includes PGDs on Tamiflu and a new intra-dermal vaccination. This will enable pharmacists to provide greater choice for their customers – in particular those patients who are averse to needles!
The programme is aimed at pharmacists who wish to launch the service in their pharmacy for the first time, as well as enabling those who completed it last year to update their skills. It combines online distance learning modules (which can be completed at the pharmacist’s convenience) with a four-hour training event at a wide choice of locations throughout England and Wales. All training events take place on a Sunday to avoid locum costs and commence in late August, through to early October 2010.
Commenting on the Influenza Service, Alliance Healthcare’s Head of Professional Services Sanjay Pathak said: “Following the success of last year, we are delighted to offer an innovative and exciting opportunity for independent community pharmacists. This year, we have introduced on line training and additional PGDs to enhance our training programme and evolve our offering.”
Alliance Healthcare is offering concessionary prices for the training programme to pharmacists who completed it last year, group bookings and Alphega Pharmacy members.
