Management structure

Jeremy Main — Managing Director
Jeremy was appointed as Managing Director of the UK business October 2008. Jeremy joined Alliance Healthcare (formerly UniChem) in January 2005 as Sales Director for the UK Wholesale business, and in March 2008 was promoted to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Karl Peach — Finance Director
Karl joined the UK business as our Finance Director in December 2010 after moving from our international division where he has held similar roles across our European operations. Karl is responsible for the whole UK finance team, including financial accounting, budgeting and reporting, and providing commercial decision support to the business.

Mark Stephenson — Commercial Healthcare Director
Mark joined Alliance Healthcare (then UniChem) in 2003 as Head of Strategy & Marketing and was promoted to the role of Marketing Director in January 2005. He took up the post of Commercial & Supplier Relations Director in 2007, and in 2009 was appointed to the role of Commercial Healthcare Director.

John Geddes — Sales Director
John is responsible for the strategic planning and management of the sales function across all of Alliance Healthcare’s customer channels in the UK, including independent pharmacy, national multiples, hospitals, dispensing doctors, and contract sales He is also responsible for the continual development of the Alphega Pharmacy network and category management.

Simon Hulme — HR Director
As Human Resources Director, Simon leads the thinking and delivery of the people agenda for Alliance Healthcare’s UK businesses. He is responsible for recruitment, retention and development of key people in the organisation.

Simon Liebling — IT Director
Simon is responsible for all aspects of IT within Alliance Healthcare’s UK businesses. He joined the Group in 1997 and set up the IT department within Alliance Pharmacy subsequently joining the board in 2000.

Gordon Cox — Operations Director
As Operations Director, Gordon is responsible for logistics, stock and transport management. He also works in conjunction with colleagues across the Group to implement new supply chain projects.

Heather Barkwill — Director of Buying
As Director of Buying, Heather is responsible for the category buying teams across the business. Her role is to ensure that there is a strongly integrated and efficient buying function to meet the needs of and capitalise on the synergies between the product categories Alliance Healthcare can offer to its customers across its UK businesses.

Mark Ryndycz – Chief Operating Officer Shortline
Mark is responsible for ensuring the development of all aspects of the shortline business.
He joined the group in June 2006 on a consultancy basis to work on acquiring the Cordia shortline business from Cardinal Health before taking up a permanent role in the business from June 2008 where he has continued to work on developing this area of our business.
Originally from a Finance background Mark progressed into general management and has been a board member of various service and manufacturing companies for over 20 years.
Chairman & Non-executive Advisor

Mike Smith — Chairman
Mike is a practising Community Pharmacist based in Devon and he is passionate about independent pharmacy. He was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alliance Healthcare (Distribution) Ltd. (then UniChem) in 2002, following a number of years’ experience with UniChem at board level.

Chris Martin — Non-executive Advisor and National Chairman of Customer Forums
Chris is a community pharmacist, Non Executive Advisor of Alliance Healthcare and Chairman of Hywel Dda Health Board. He has a vast experience of running community pharmacies in the West Country and in Wales and has many other business interests. He was a member of the Pharmacy Regulation and Leadership Oversight Committee set up by the Department of Health and he was awarded a fellowship by the RPSGB in 2006 for distinction in the profession of pharmacy.
