Alliance Healthcare's Non-Executive Advisor receives Honorary Doctorate from Swansea University

Chris Martin, Non-Executive Advisor, has been awarded an honorary degree, Doctor of Letters DLitt, from Swansea University's School of Management on 18 December 2018 to celebrate his entrepreneurial success along with his distinguished career in the public, private and charitable sector in Wales and across the UK.

Chris has been a Non-Executive with Alliance Healthcare for 15 years during which time he has chaired the Customer Forums and been recognised by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain with a Fellowship in recognition of his distinction in the profession of community pharmacy.

He has been celebrated by Swansea University's School of Management because of his entrepreneurial success, including the establishment of two independent community pharmacy chains in Pembrokeshire and the West Country along with a successful property development company.

As well as being a Non-Exec Advisor with Alliance Healthcare, Chris has established a busy portfolio career. He is Chairman of Milford Haven Port Authority (the largest energy port in the UK), Deputy Chairman of the Bevan Commission (an international independent think tank in health and social care), Vice Chairman of the Life Sciences Hub Wales Ltd as well as being Chairman and Non-executive Director of the Economy, Skills and Natural Resources Audit and Risk Assurance Committee for Welsh Government.

He is a Trustee and Director of Marie Curie UK as well as the Chairman of the Wales Advisory Board for Marie Curie. He is a governor of Pembrokeshire College and an active member of the School of Management Advisory Board at Swansea University.

The graduation day in Swansea University will live long in my memory and I am hugely grateful to my family, friends and colleagues who have and continue to support me in my rewarding career."
