Alliance Healthcare UK Complete London to Paris Velodrome Challenge In Style

Alliance Healthcare UK has set out to raise £15,000 for children's cancer charity – CLIC Sargent, in support of its wider Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mission – raising funds to help the fight against cancer!

As part of the fundraising activities, 28 team members from the Alliance Healthcare Support Centre recently completed an exciting London to Paris velodrome challenge at the famous Lee Valley Olympic Velodrome, in London.

The team managed to travel a combined distance of 705km (2,824 laps) - that's 5km more than the required target (2,820 laps) - to travel collectively from London to Paris – and back!

To add to the fun on the day, the teams were split in two, team CLIC versus team Sargent. The average distance travelled by each team member then determined the winning team. Team CLIC proved victorious with an impressive average of 105 laps per person. Senior members of the Alliance Healthcare management team presented the winning trophy, and handed out four special medals for best individual efforts.

Representatives from CLIC Sargent were present throughout the event, and Mairi Wilson, Fundraising Manager, even took part in the team's effort, contributing 23.3km to the overall total, and said: "What a brilliant experience to be part of, I've never done anything like this before .We were delighted to hear that Alliance Healthcare are raising funds to support the incredible work we, at CLIC Sargent, carry out in supporting children and young people with cancer."

At the event, Helen, a young person who has received the valuable care and support offered by CLIC Sargent, cheered on the challengers and received a small gift as a thank you from the team for her encouragement.

Sam Unsworth, Senior PR and CSR Executive, said "Alliance Healthcare continues to raise incredible amounts to help the fight against cancer. Our fundraising challenges become more and more inventive every time. These events really bring our teams together and I'm extremely proud that our CSR efforts continue to make a valuable difference."

After a great afternoon at the Olympic Velodrome, the teams hobbled to a local pub for a well-earned pint, knowing they have now raised over £9,500 for CLIC Sargent so far.

Earlier this year, Alliance Healthcare raised over £40,000 for the European Organisation for the Research and Treatment of Cancer, and £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support with a driving challenge across the UK.
