Celebrating World Cancer Day – employees vote for new cancer charity!

Employees from Alliance Healthcare UK recognised the recent World Cancer Day by voting for the official Alliance Healthcare UK charity partner, 2018. The shortlist of six nominated charities, all cancer related, were put to an internal vote, as colleagues continue their support in the fight against cancer!

World Cancer Day, a global event that unites people in the fight against cancer, helps to raise awareness and funds to help beat cancer sooner.

Today, Alliance Healthcare announced it will be supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, Prostate Cancer UK and Breast Cancer Care in 2018.

Since 2012, Alliance Healthcare UK has raised and donated over £800,000 for the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Cancer Research Fund, to support the partnership with Walgreens Boots Alliance, and the creation of the first-pan European Biobank for colorectal cancer.

Toby Carpenter, HR Director said: "It's brilliant to see our fundraising efforts evolve, as we build on our continued support for the EORTC, with these three wonderful new charity partners. We're committed to do as much as we can to help the fight against cancer. While fundraising is incredibly important, this year we want to ensure further education and awareness for our charity partners throughout the business."

Lisa Gilmour, Community Fundraising Manager at Breast Cancer Care says: "It was wonderful to receive the news that our charity is included in the Alliance Healthcare UK fundraising plans for 2018. We are very excited about building rewarding and fun relationships with the team over the coming year and making a positive difference to the lives of people facing breast cancer."

Elsewhere across the business, Alphega Pharmacy UK - a leading network of independent pharmacies, once again encouraged its members to support World Cancer Day. Its' central communication team guided interested pharmacists to useful assets and information online, prompting conversations on warning signs and symptoms of cancer and assisting patients through cancer journeys.

Within the toolkit, provided by Cancer Research UK, to promote World Cancer Day is informative infographics for your website, digital screens or social media channels that highlight facts about cancer, risk factors, and the most frequent types, posters, factsheets and social media assets.
