Recognising World Cancer Day

Teams from across Alliance Healthcare marked World Cancer Day on Monday 4 February, 2019 as it launched its preliminary fundraising plans for 2019 with a continued focus to help the fight against cancer!

Sadly cancer continues to devastate the lives of millions of people across the world. It is widely believed that one in three of us will develop cancer during our lifetime – a terrifying statistic and one that Alliance Healthcare colleagues, and our charity partners and healthcare professionals are committed to change!

World Cancer Day is an international day that helps to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. Teams from across the business have organised small fundraising activities throughout February to raise vital funds for its two chosen charities.

At Support Centre in Chessington, the team held a special charity fair; with local businesses donating 10% of sales to the charities, a small cake and branded flask sale. A Valentine's themed raffle is also underway for the teams in the build up to the popular day! Representatives from Action Medical Research also joined the occasion with a stall and briefing session with teams signed up for their summer fundraising events.

Julian Mount, Managing Director adds: "I am truly inspired by the determination from our teams with all our fundraising efforts. Our support in the fight against cancer continues to evolve, as our business and teams support the WBA and EORTC partnership with its new five year programme, and this year specific to the UK we will be raising funds for Action Medical Research."
