Tinsel Town – supporting our Operations team during Christmas activity

Alliance Healthcare colleagues work together to support Service Centre teams across the country during the busy December period.

Service Centre volumes are high during the winter season, as demand for medicines increases and pharmacy stores prepare for the festive period. The "Tinsel Town" initiative gives all Sales team members an opportunity to experience another aspect of the business and lend a hand during Alliance Healthcare's busiest period of the year.

Toby Carpenter, HR Director Alliance Healthcare helped out at the Letchworth Service Centre and was again amazed at the pace and efficiency of the teams, especially as the site was operating near capacity.

Preston Service Centre welcomed support from the Sales team, during the sites highest ever lineage in a week – an impressive 700,000 lines.  Steven Pritchard, Warehouse Operations Manager Alliance Healthcare said: "It was great to have the support of the sales team at a time when an extra hand goes a long way. We saw our colleagues help out in all areas, ensuring that despite the uplift in picking (approximately 25 percent), we continued to deliver to all of our customers on time."

Claire Bentham, Regional Sales Manager, Alliance Healthcare, was delighted to take part at her local Service Centre: "The ‘Tinsel Town' initiative is fantastic as it shows a true sense of partnership within our business. Our Sales team have the opportunity to see how challenging this time of year can be for our Operations, and admire their commitment, passion and customer focus during these busy months"

"The Operations teams in particular are working flat out to provide a great service for our customers. We want to do more than show our support, we wanted to help where our business needs it most - the Service Centres. We really felt as though we were helping to make a difference. Our team supported Operations by assisting with the picking, packing and other Operational activities, and of course, keeping morale high with some additional festive cheer! It was so successful we have been asked back to join in again.

Michael Fowler, Regional Field Operations Manager said: "This has been a fantastic initiative, I have been so impressed by the cross functional team building this initiative has achieved. It is great to see so many of our colleagues support the Service Centres during our busiest time in this way."
